Archive for the ‘Christmas 2011’ Category

Back in 2009, my husband gave me a very precious Christmas gift, a lap top. It was a surprise gift I received from him more than two years ago.  It was only two years ago, had I known that the life span of a laptop is that short, I should have put it inside a  GotBriefcases.com aluminum briefcase and wrapped it in a blanket.

We both felt sad about it, a lap top for us is not just an ordinary gadget and we think its a expensive investment. We can’t buy it just like any other grocery item because we need to save a lot and plan well to buy it.

All I can do now is to read the blog post I wrote the night after I received that laptop. You wouldn’t believe my husband was so sweet surprising me with that kind of gift. Should you want to share my kilig moment, please visit here.

Christmas 2011 is the 3rd Christmas  we celebrated with Gab. Of course, it’s one of the happiest we’ve had. Especially now that Gab is more sensible to talk with. He can say a lot of things already in less than 3 years of age.

It may have been a little late to show our gratitude to all of Gab’s sponsors last year. But its always OK to be late, than never say thank you at all.

  • Thank you Tito Jeff and Tita Jeng for my new red shirt, that’s my very first red shirt.
  • Thank you Mommy Giselle for the Ben10 toy car, (i love to watch Ben10 on TV) and for the cash of course.
  • Thank you Ate Yma for the nice sleeveless shirt. I love the color.
  • Thank you Kuya Matthew and Baby Leila for giving me Butterfly. I use it every night when I sleep.
  • Thank you Ninong Randolf for the cash…(we’ll deposit it to the bank).
  • Thank you Lola Nanayand Lolo Be  for the Yoyo and the cash…(I’ll put it in the bank as well.)
  • Thank you Ninang Diane for the Human Nature sanitizer and shampoo...(promise, I won’t share it with Papa).
  • Thank you Tita Eliza for all of Mama’s kris kringle’s gifts…I’m sorry, I broke Santa in less than 30 minutes after I opened the gift.
  • Thank you Ninang Lea for the sando and shorts.
  • Thank you Papa for all of my ‘pamasko’.
  • If there is anyone we were not able to mention, Thank so much for the bottom of our hearts. Bear with Mama, she is forgetful but Papa and me loves her much.

 While we are all so preoccupied thinking of what to give our children this christmas, let us not forget our elderly. Let us share the spirit of love and christmas to elder people making them feel young at heart even only this christmas season.

This is a repost of what is circulated in Facebook hoping that this will reach Vicky Morales of Wish Ko Lang….

Lola Cevera’s frail body having difficulty pushing her cart

“Lola Cevera Abuan” is a 100 year old woman who was pushing her cart along Greenmeadows Avenue at half past 12 noon today. I passed by her already and could see how frail her body was from my rear view mirror that I just had to go back and give her my lunch. So, I made a U-turn, parked my car and went down to talk t…o her. I asked her what she was doing there and where she was headed. She responded in a little tagalog saying “namamalimos po ako”(asking for alms) but she started speaking in Ilocano so it was difficult for me to understand her and aside from this, she has a hearing problem. I just handed her my food, gave a little amount to hold on to and made a gesture for her to eat. Then she asked if it was 12:00 noon already so I just nodded and told her to eat. I was both sad and happy to talk to her. Sad because this woman should be cared for at this age(She reminded me of my mom who was Ilocana whom I called right after I got home and told her about Lola Cevera. I was telling my mom should move more and continue her therapy so she would reach 100 years old..hehe) …And I was also happy, because I saw her face light up the moment I gave her something, she kept on thanking me. I am just worried for Lola Cevera cos I found out she crosses C5 everyday. I don’t want her to be sideswiped or be a hit and run victim. Family and friends, I still would like to help Lola Cevera so I would like to ask a bit of favor from you. I hope this will reach “Ms. Vicky Morales of Wish Ko lang” and grant Lola Cevera something to help her get by, without having to walk several kilometers to ask for alms. I would be so grateful to all of you who will do Lola Cevera the favor of posting/sharing this on your wall. Thank you so much for your compassion and God bless us all. P.S. To Ms. Vicky Morales, I hope you can help Lola Cevera. I was able to pick up from her that she stays in San Roque St. in Bagumbayan along Industria. Thank you so much and more power to your show. I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.  ~Charles Dickens

Christmas is the gentlest, loveliest festival of the revolving year – and yet, for all that, when it speaks, its voice has strong authority.  ~W.J. Cameron

Remember

This December,

That love weighs more than gold!

I sometimes think we expect too much of Christmas Day.  We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness and humanity of the whole year.  As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time, all through the year.  And thus I drift along into the holidays – let them overtake me unexpectedly – waking up some fine morning and suddenly saying to myself:  “Why, this is Christmas Day!”  ~David Grayson

At Christmas

A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;

He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season’s here;

Then he’s thinking more of others than he’s thought the months before,

He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;

When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime…

The Church does not superstitiously observe days, merely as days, but as memorials of important facts.  Christmas might be kept as well upon one day of the year as another; but there should be a stated day for commemorating the birth of our Saviour, because there is danger that what may be done on any day, will be neglected.  ~Samuel Johnson

I hear that in many places something has happened to Christmas; that it is changing from a time of merriment and carefree gaiety to a holiday which is filled with tedium; that many people dread the day and the obligation to give Christmas presents is a nightmare to weary, bored souls; that the children of enlightened parents no longer believe in Santa Claus; that all in all, the effort to be happy and have pleasure makes many honest hearts grow dark with despair instead of beaming with good will and cheerfulness.  ~Julia Peterkin, A Plantation Christmas, 1934

And help the age of peace to come

From a Dreamer’s martyrdom.

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall.  We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.  ~Dave Barry

Wouldn’t life be worth the living

Wouldn’t dreams be coming true

If we kept the Christmas spirit

The universal joy of Christmas is certainly wonderful.  We ring the bells when princes are born, or toll a mournful dirge when great men pass away.  Nations have their red-letter days, their carnivals and festivals, but once in the year and only once, the whole world stands still to celebrate the advent of a life.  ~Author Unknown

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?  It came without ribbons.  It came without tags.  It came without packages, boxes or bags.  And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore.  Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.  What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store.  What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.  ~Dr Seuss

Christmas – that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance.  It may weave a spell of nostalgia.  Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance – a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.  ~Augusta E. Rundel

We hear the beating of wings over Bethlehem and a light that is not of the sun or of the stars shines in the midnight sky.  Let the beauty of the story take away all narrowness, all thought of formal creeds.  Let it be remembered as a story that has happened again and again, to men of many different races, that has been expressed through many religions, that has been called by many different names.  Time and space and language lay no limitations upon human brotherhood.  ~New York Times, 25 December 1937, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren, 1938, published by The H.W. Party party!!!

In a few days our office will start partying here and there.  This is the way the office express gratitude to employees labor of love for the whole year of work and work and work.

Since we started, this is the third christmas party I will be joining.  The first we had was in Outback restaurant in Glorietta, the 2nd year was in Club Phi in Metrowalk Ortigas, and this is going to be in Dusit Thani, a 5 star hotel located in Makati just nearby the office.

Dressing up for the party is one major concern for each and everyone.  I do not have any party clothes because I am not into attending so much parties.  Its just this one that I cannot imagine not to attend since this one’s my office party.  My cousin Reine is busy looking at prom dresses 2012 online and I guess I’d give in to look one for myself as well just for this occasion.

I will surely not to forget to post some pictures taken from the party on this blog.

Shoes Shoes Shoes

If I am to buy something for myself this christmas, I will never  have a second thought of buying shoes and sandals.  Last year, I had two slip ons from Parisian in SM and I still have them until today.

I wonder how our christmas shopping will turn out this year.  Last year was superb, Gab enjoyed playing at the mall.  See my previous post about that, here

I desparately want this enzo angiolini shoes.  I got this picture online and I know I cannot resist of not buying this if I find this at the mall.

These is just one problem I have this time.  Gab will surely not enjoy accompanying me to shop for my things, he will definitely grab us to the Tom’s World of Fun right away.  He is now so used to going to the mall just to play at Tom’s World, this is something that I don’t agree with Rey all the time.

Its only 40 days to go before Christmas.  I am still hessitant of putting up our christmas tree because my son may not be able to control himself not to tear it apart. Yet I also feel so guilty not having christmas tree while I have a kid who loves Santa Claus and christmas tree so much.

Just yesterday, Gab and Rey posed for picture beside a christmas tree made out of lego at SM the Block. The more I got confused and guilty in not setting up our own at home.

Gab would love all those candy cane hanging on the christmas tree if he would be given a chance to have it.  I hope there are electric blankets on them too and I will pick the design I want. While Rey loves to have an LED TV from Samsung for christmas.

Too bad, I had a really bad toothache at the mall yesterday so my son has to stop playing at the arcade so we can go home immediately. I promise son, mom will make it up to you.
