It’s been a whole school year already. Gab’s graduation from Nursery is fast approaching and it will be the same day as our wedding anniversary on March 16. All of us in the family are happy and excited for him.

I did not realize it right away that I was not able to post any of Gab’s class picture, so here I am making up for my son.

Quality Time

As early as less than three years of age, Gab already have a bicycle of his own. Just that, he doesn’t have an idea that he can use his bike outside of the house.  I didn’t want him to realize that because I am sure, he will never want to come inside the house had he tried using his bike out in the streets.

It took him several months to actually learn how to use the pedal of his bicycle.  Before, he was only able to sit alone on his bike and do nothing, but now, he knows how to make it move. Basically, he knows how to use the pedals already.

I was not surprised anymore when he was tearing his bicycle apart.  Kids have a tendency to become so curious to things to the extent that they break it. His bicycle still looks new, it’s never got dirty wheels since Gab does not take it out of the house.  It’s only got its brake broken and some bearings lost.

At least, Gab and Rey have something to do together and spend quality time.

I never thought we will be out the whole day today.  As far as I can remember, I asked Rey on Saturday evening to wake me up early on Sunday so we can attend the 9:30 mass.  We were able to attend the mass even if we were late for about 15 minutes and we were happy to see my Uncle’s whole family with my Lola in the church.  After the mass, I told my Lola to go with us in the sedan because she is having a hard time getting in the van of my Uncle, a bit hard for her to lift herself inside the van.

We stayed for a few minutes with my lola while we were waiting for Rey to come back from our house, I forgot to bring my laptop with us and I really have to have it so I can do some work while Rey and Gab plays in the mall.  Its our first time to visit ATC with Gab.   I’m sure if I have a netbook instead of a laptop, I can just have it my bag and carry it all the time.  I wouldn’t want the best netbooks available in the shop, its too risky nowadays, an ordinary and cheap will do for me.

We left my Uncle’s place before lunch time so we can have our lunch on time in ATC.  I never realized, its really a quick drive from Mambog, Bacoor to Ayala Town Center in Alabang.  My kid did not have much sleep along the way, we had to wait for him to wake in the parking lot before we head on, you know, just to save us from the best tantrum Gab can throw if we force him to wake up.

At about 4pm, we hit the road going to Laguna, a nice 45-minute-drive from the mall to our house.  We took some of our things and left a “FOR RENT’ signage again.  I still feel sad because we never get to live in our home.  Its too far from our work place and Rey just can’t let me drive the unlighted streets alone in the wee hours of the morning on my way home from work everyday.

An hour after, we’re on our way home to Cavite.  Rey is happy to catch his fave ball team B-Meg on air.   Though its tiring being out the whole day, I’d say its one of best family’s day out.  Gab enjoyed his tour from the church to the mall and to our place in Laguna.  He loves to joy ride a lot.

Time flies and it flies really fast.  Gab is now about two years old and in just few years we will be sending him to school.  I can’t think of having another baby at this time because I am pressured of the idea that in just a few years we will be worrying about tuition  fees and school uniforms and school supplies. When we send him to school it would be like a never ending payment every year for the tuition fee, school supplies and everything else about schooling.  I wonder how our parents and other parents were able to get by having more than a couple of siblings at about the same age.  Yet they were able to become a very good provider, every one was able to get what they need and most of all, was able to send all of the kids to school and graduated all with flying colors.  I really admire such parents.  They are God’s gift to their children.

In a few years time, we will have to send our siblings to college and I am wondering what they would like for their profession.  I wonder if Gab would be like Rey wearing an engineers hat or would he be in the field of medicine wearing nurses uniforms or white coat.  Whatever his decision will be it will be up to him.  My role is to guide them and I will just make sure that he is the right path.  As long as my siblings are happy, Rey and I will be happy for them.

Next month will be Gab’s 2nd birthday and we feel really blessed having him with us.  We love you son!

Congratulations and happy birthday Chel!  You deserve all the blessings and the answered prayers.  I am really happy for you.

If feels good to know that a friend’s prayer is answered and you know that a friend is really happy.  I may not be the one who was able to help her but I was able to be with her in good and some bad times.  Getting married and having children really changed a lot in me and this friend of mine.  Since Chel and I got married having fun now means staying at home and playing with our son or spending time with husband and making snacks while he enjoys his favorite movie. I am very happy that Chel will be able to spend more time now with her family soon enough. And to top it all, earn while at home.

I am still trying to work for my ticket to exit the life of linear job earner, I know I have the drive for this to be able to spend more time with my kid and husband.  This may not be easy but I know it is doable.  Hang on there “Dream Come True” I am coming so very soon.  Soon, I will also have more time browsing the internet and I can even offer to make a review for best whey protein powder or any product I see online.

Today the most  of the working class of the Philippines is on a holiday vacation, a lovely 3 day weekend for them including my husband, Rey.  But why should I envy those who will not go to work today.  I have good reasons not to and I will count them all for you.

  • my shift is at 4pm, i had all the time in the day to be with my family already and finish what needs to be done in the day
  • there are less vehicles on the road, its nice to travel
  • i can be on a Friday dressdown at work, were allowed to wear our sneakers and jeans during holiday.
  • i am paid 200% of my daily rate
  • and MOST OF ALL, my son and hubby will drive me to the office.

I have all these amenities not to be jealous of those who are on a holiday!!!

Since Gab was at the office, he played with some of my officemates, had a good picture in front of our huge christmas tree and got tired of watching the fish on our indoor fishpond.

Time flies, really fast! Its doesn’t seem that I had been pregnant two christmas ago. I missed already being pregnant, not that  I would like to have another child, I don’t think I’m ready yet. But I love all the pampering I get when I was still pregnant, its like everyone looks after you, and everyone, even strangers are ready to give a hand.

You won’t really believe it, if I tell you that this was the baby I was having back in 2009.

At this stage, it pains me to leave the house.  It’s not nice to hear him crying behind the screened door begging me not to leave him with his nanny.   I know exactly how Rey feels when  he goes to work every morning.  If there just some kind of sleeping aids that we can use to make him fall asleep just before we leave home to go to work…

Did you know how you can distinguish the “Musts” from the “Shoulds” for your child safety equipment?
Maybe you have made your list? Here are the actual baby-proofing items that should be at the must-have tippy top.
I recognize that we don’t all have hundreds of dollars in order to throw down the all-essential childproofing budget gap. To help the protection of the serious yet monetarily fainthearted, I’ve labeled them into the “musts”, meaning that you should not care where you buy them, but good parenting requires them.
When you have more than one kid (or are often distracted), consider the more distractions you have in your house, the more distractable you are, the more important your baby-proofing is.
The following (in order of importance) 9 baby proofing things you “must” have to keep your baby safe:
1° A Good Gate: Even if you live in a ranch-style home or even an apartment with no stairways, there will be rooms or areas you won’t want your baby walking into, so a good gate is definitely a must-have babyproofing purchase.

2° A Blind Winder: The number of children strangled every year due to dangling blind and shade cords is devastating. In fact, the Customer Product Safety Commission lists cords as one of the “hidden hazards” parent’s don’t think of. There are numerous inexpensive window blind winders out there, but if you have to by hand re-wind the cord right after every use, chances are you won’t use it.

3° Anti-Tip Anchors: If you have a climber (or possible climber) on your hands, furnishings straps are a must. Whether it’s a dresser or a bookshelf, attach these weighty pieces of furniture on the wall with anti-tip band to avoid the furniture from tipping over.

4° Fireplace Safety: The hard stone around the fireplace hearth can be very hazardous with little ones close to. Its sharp edges and rough stone corners can cut, and seriously hurt a tripping child. You need to choose one of the several good hearth bumper pads available in the marketplace.

5° Corner Edge Bumpers: You can cover the corners of your end-tables and coffee tables with corner and side guards. One-sizing-fits all because you cut the foam to fit your particular table exactly.

6° Outlet Covers: For used outlets with cords, you can buy a cover that will prevent your newborn from unplugging the cord and messing with the wall plug. They are best for high-traffic areas where you will be plugging and un-plugging items regularly.

7° Childproof Latches for Cabinets and Drawers: Drawer latches are also a must-have for childproofing your home. They’ll prevent your growing infant from reaching intact drawers with sharp or tiny items stored on the inside. Ideal for the kitchen, bathroom, or home office. Choose childproof latches that won’t let your little one to get even a hand inside.

8° Railing Net: Stair and railing nets will also be a must if the railing spindles are generally further than 2.5 to 3 inches apart.

9° Bathtub Safety Items: Bath-time is always interesting for a growing baby. Keep it secure by using some of these little accessories.

- A bathtub thermometer to gauge water temperature.

- A bathtub safety rail to help the little one get in and out from the tub safely.

- A faucet cover that will protect her little head from nasty bumps.

These are the most important baby safety equipment items out there. Consider them as an important investment you will make in the years of growth and exploration still ahead of you.

Last Christmas I did not expect  Rey would give a laptop as a present. He knows I am planning to save to buy a atleast a netbook to do online business such as ptc’s (paid to click) and blogging. Netbooks are really handy, so its my first choice.  I can keep it inside my bag and bring it anywhere I go.

Since Christmas is just around the corner, I am thinking of a nice present to give him that he will appreciate. Rey is not hard to please, he would accept anything or nothing if I will not really afford to give him anything. He is happy enough that we are beside him and supports him all the time.

Thank you God that I have Rey and thank you God that you gave us Gab.

It was a  nice and simple birthday celebration for Rey yesterday at the Fun Ranch.  We celebrated it with Ate Nina, Matthew, Cali and Jay.  Of course Gab and I were there to complete the fun.

It was actually more of like giving the kids the fun that they want, seems like its not Rey who’s celebrating his birthday because we were at Fun Ranch and  its actually a kids place.  But I think this is how it gets when your already a mature family man, instead of thinking of the celebration as yours to celebrate, you think of your kids and other youngsters in the family.

Gab and Matthew had fun, and so Rey had fun enjoying Gab!!!
