Weekend Get Away

We missed spending time with family and relatives last year. Gab and I isolated ourselves at home with less going out since I did not have work and less budget. It’s only since I started working for my new company a couple of months ago we were able to visit family and relatives both from Rey and my side.IMG_0039

Our long trip from the province going back home to Cavite gave us an opportunity to have pictures taken along the roads of Quezon province while having our stomach refills, rest for our careful driver (that’s Lolo Ger) and stretching our knees. It’s an eight-hour road trip which Lolo Ger makes for only more than six  hours and never more than seven less traffic.

Our usual family bonding and routine every weekend is to pay a visit to Rey’s office after a good stroll at the mall.  Since Rey is now with the Sapphire Bloc construction group, Robinson’s Galleria is our choice every Saturday. Megamall is too far from the construction site and Gab will always complain walking from the mall to Rey’s office.

Gab is still in his hyper mode when we get to the office and I was able to convince him to try on his father’s hard had and reflectorized jacket. He was happy to walk around the office and show off his costume to his father’s co-engineer.

I am sure he will be able to pull it off as an officer when he grows up. I suddenly thought that he will be able to have a good management style in case we buy auto lifts in the future and he will be able to manage it for the family. Don’t you think I am too wishful to think about it for now.

It’s been a whole school year already. Gab’s graduation from Nursery is fast approaching and it will be the same day as our wedding anniversary on March 16. All of us in the family are happy and excited for him.

I did not realize it right away that I was not able to post any of Gab’s class picture, so here I am making up for my son.

Family Time

Though it’s hard to find time to relax and unwind behind so many work to do, I realized its still important to spend time with my husband and son even during weekends.  Despite of the tight budget we are experiencing now a days, Rey still make an effort to initiate spending few hours together as family to relax even in the closest mall in our place. Spending time with me and his son are his most awaited time after the long weekend at work.  I mean really long because he spend few nights of the week still working at the construction site.

On the other hand, spending few hours at the mall tempts to so many things to buy. Last time I passed by at the furniture area of SM department store, I came across this log beds that is so lovely. Good thing that I do not have any credit card to buy it because I know I cannot resist it.

For Gab, malling every weekend means playing games at the arcade, he loves basketball game so much.

In 10 days time, it will be valentines day. I am happily looking at our anniversary rings, yes our rings, I have both weddings rings of me and Rey. It was just given back to me by my friend because we had it fixed by the goldsmith. The stud on Rey’s ring got lost and we need to have it repaired. Thanks to my friend who’s mother sells jewelry and she knows a lot of goldsmith who can fix rings.

Telling story about how Rey and I met is always a favorite topic of mine. Who you believe that Rey and I were classmates in highschool and we have the same group of friends. We were one of the most choatic group consist of 10 boys and 11 girls all in all. After high school, we all parted ways, some of us went to college along with few barkada but alone did not have anyone in my high school to be with in my college. There were no cell phones yet in 1996. Most of us have landlines but even with that I was not able to kept constant communicaiton with my high school friends.

Ten years after we graduated in high school, I bumped into my old barkada and classmate by the name of Reynald. And it all started there…….we now live under one roof together with a little boy we call  Gab.

Quality Time

As early as less than three years of age, Gab already have a bicycle of his own. Just that, he doesn’t have an idea that he can use his bike outside of the house.  I didn’t want him to realize that because I am sure, he will never want to come inside the house had he tried using his bike out in the streets.

It took him several months to actually learn how to use the pedal of his bicycle.  Before, he was only able to sit alone on his bike and do nothing, but now, he knows how to make it move. Basically, he knows how to use the pedals already.

I was not surprised anymore when he was tearing his bicycle apart.  Kids have a tendency to become so curious to things to the extent that they break it. His bicycle still looks new, it’s never got dirty wheels since Gab does not take it out of the house.  It’s only got its brake broken and some bearings lost.

At least, Gab and Rey have something to do together and spend quality time.

Early Plan for 2012

As early as November, I am thinking of planning a family get-away for next year.  I did not enjoy travelling a lot when I was still single and I wish to travel now with my  family.  Rey was just the same, we were more of home buddy type of people but Rey is more like a couch potato so there was absolutely no travel at all except for Bicol for myself.

Gab is going 3 years old and can tag along with our out of town trips. I will get him one of nice kelty backpacks of his own.  This way he can carry his own personal things such as towelettes, cookies and chug bottle.

I can’t wait for this, I should talk to Rey about this when he is the best mood to planning our next year agenda.

And speaking of bags, look at how Gab love bags.  This is his new favorite pass time.

The Greats

Inay was craving for ice cream this morning, so she sent me to the nearest Puregold to buy her some ice cream.   I got her two flavors, fruit salad and cookies and cream.

Believe me, that kid is only two years old .  Two years and going 5 months!

I feel so happy seeing my son and grandmother (who raised me up since 4 months old) spending time together.  They are the best buddies. My son is so blessed to meet his great grand mother.  I am happy calling them “The Greats”.  Gab is the great grand son and Inay is the great grand mother.

See that blue piggy bank?  Gab choose it over an Angry Bird toy.  I asked him to take only one toy with him at the store.  He was holding an Angry Bird toy and that blue piggy bank made out of plastic. I feel very happy, since he choose a piggy bank instead of a toy that he will just add on his clutter at home. Atleast with this piggy bank, he will learn the value of savings as early as now.

Inay loves roses so I plan to buy roses online at ProFlowers for a surprise.  I will have it delivered this weekend, hope Tita Rose and Ashley can come over too. Tito Roger and his family is just by the next subdivision so it wont be a miss for them for sure.  I pray Ate Lea and Kuya Marlon can make it too.   It will be great party.

October is my Month

Not only Rey is going to celebrate his birthday next month, but me also. You won’t believe that our age gap is only 17 days.  We were born on the same month and year. So if you want to make a wild guess who is younger than who, please feel free to do so.  You can take these pictures below as a reference, if you really want to make your guess.

This was taken somewhere in Makati.  We had one of college friend reunion.

This was taken in Antipolo Church.

One of our highschool barkada’s kid’s birthday party.  Taken at Jollibee in Tayuman.

This is somewhere along the way to Batangas. Rey’s whole family will go for a one night
escapade in Batangas.  That is Matthew, Ate Nina eldest son.

I still feel young though I am at my early 30′s already.  My body also signals me that I am not getting any younger at all.  So best health care is always prepared. Elders would normally say that its gonna make you feel different if you have given birth already. All these signs of aging are showing to me very gradually. Even the things I read online such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement are things that concerns aging. But even if that is the case, if you have a kid such as this boy, you wil feel young at heart forever.
