Repost from Technobaboy Blog

Samsung Electronics Philippines recently announced a price reduction for three of its premium products: the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy II and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7.  Starting this month, these devices can be purchased at considerably lower prices.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a super phone with a 5.3” HD Super AMOLED Screen, a unique S-Pen technology input and is powered by a 1.4GHz Dual CoreProcessor.  It now retails for only P29, 990, down from its previous price of P33,490.

The Samsung Galaxy SII is now priced at only P24, 990, cheaper by three thousand pesos from its original retail price.  This price drop is expected since the Samsung Galaxy S III  has just been launched and is expected to be available in the market soon.   The Samsung Galaxy S II is still a formidable handset despite the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S III.  It has a stunning 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus Display, runs on 1.2GHz Dual Core Processor and is 4G capable.

Techy Son

According to my Uncle Noel, “Iba na ang singaw ng mga bata ngayon.” (He means that kids today are so into technology). He said this when we were chatting through facebook and I was telling him that I almost lost all my contact numbers on my phone because Gab is manipulating my phone. I already gave up competing with him with my HTC phones because he would never let it go when he starts watching video clips and playing Angry Birds with it. That is why, I transferred my prepaid SIM card to my old and simple phone unit that he would never get interested to play with.

Having heard of this from my Uncle, I started to think and agree with him. My son enjoyed the touch screen phone so much while it pester me a lot when I use it in composing text messages.  I hate the fact that I need to use both of my hands to use it, the other hand holding the phone and other hand touching the screen to make it work. I love my old style phone so much that I can do text messages without even looking at the letters on it. I guess this is what my Uncle means when he said kids are so techy nowadays.

I wonder what can Gab do when he learns to use internet and computers the way it’s for. I wonder if he try to look for computer carts and do online buying as well. I just hope he learns to do online job as early as he can so he can manage to fund him online shopping, hehe.

I found this post of Technobaboy Blog really interesting and informative:

Google to Name the Next Android Versions “Jelly Bean” and “Key Lime Pie”

What’s in a name? Google’s naming pattern for versions of the Android OS is quite interesting, not to mention yummy.  The search and electronics giant names its Android OS versions after desserts and this is something that most of us know about.  So far we’ve had a serving of Android Cupcake (version 1.5), Android Donut (version 1.6), Android Éclair (versions 2.0 and 2.1), Android Froyo (version 2.2), Android Gingerbread (version 2.3), Android Honeycomb (version 3.0) and Android Ice Cream Sandwich (version 4.0).

Did you know though, that before Google used names of desserts, it used robot names like Astro and Bender?  These names took the letters “A” and “B”.  In case you didn’t notice, the names of Android versions are alphabetical.  The robot names were reportedly replaced by names of desserts in order to avoid trademark issues.  That’s why we had Cupcake after Bender.

After Ice Cream Sandwich, Google is naming the next version Jelly Bean.  This has been rumored since last year and Asus recently confirmed the name Jelly Bean.   We have not yet seen that version, and it’s not sure when Google will launch it, but already we are hearing rumors that there is already a name for the version after Jelly Bean and it’s Key Lime Pie.   The acronym for that will of course be KLP, much like the acronym for the current version is ICS.  The release of Key Lime Pie is rumored to be in 2013 so we won’t be getting a taste of KLP any time soon.  One thing  I know is that Key Lime Pie does not sound good, but hopefully this Android version works better than it sounds.

Back in 2009, my husband gave me a very precious Christmas gift, a lap top. It was a surprise gift I received from him more than two years ago.  It was only two years ago, had I known that the life span of a laptop is that short, I should have put it inside a  GotBriefcases.com aluminum briefcase and wrapped it in a blanket.

We both felt sad about it, a lap top for us is not just an ordinary gadget and we think its a expensive investment. We can’t buy it just like any other grocery item because we need to save a lot and plan well to buy it.

All I can do now is to read the blog post I wrote the night after I received that laptop. You wouldn’t believe my husband was so sweet surprising me with that kind of gift. Should you want to share my kilig moment, please visit here.

One of the things Rey and I have in common is our love for gadgets. He likes computer games and new gadgets while I am always curious with it.

When we got married, the first investment we had is our desktop. It took him long to convince me to get one but I gave in when I realized that I will have access anytime to the internet. He was happy to play computer games on it, when he’s got bored with his PS1 and PS2 (this was like more than 5 years ago).

Recently, I got my own android phone but I was sad when its design and functions are eating me up.  I told myself, I like my old phone better because of its user friendly functions.

Not until I discovered this free YouTube downloader installed on my HTC phone. Now I can’t get my hand off it because of the music videos I downloaded. Gab loves the phone as well because of his favorite game, Angry Bird. And when we are out, I get to distract him with Barney and Blue Clues videos installed on it too.

If you did heard of this before, I bet you’re a gaming addict. This one looks like a Samsung Tablet with something connected on the side of it.  Well, that’s how it looks to me because I am really not a techy person and not also so much into games and gadgets, but my husband Rey is.  I am sure Gab will be soon, he’s in the making right now.

Fiona Gaming Tablet was manufactured by Razer and it will run PC games with much better feel because you can bring it anywhere you are comfortable to play with. It comes a long with its unique set of controller and its also full touch screen.

Wondering when this will be out in the market? You don’t need to wait too long, its predicted to come out in the market by Q4 of 2012.

iPhone 5 is yet to be a reality here in the Philippines, I can’t wait to see one in real life.

Oh, I didn’t mean I am buying one, I may not have enough budget for it.  What I meant is to borrow one from a friend just to see how it really feels to hold an iPhone 5.

When Rey decided to sold his old Nokia Engage phone way way back, I know he was never happy with that decision.  I should have realized as early as then  that I married a guy who loves to play digital games more than anything else but I didn’t. By the way, he’s already  got a PS1, PS2, Xbox, PSP and a Samsung tablet, and he would never give away any one of these for his nephews.

Rey was happy to know that he now can carry a “play station” with him in his pocket. He has now got his new Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY. I was really pushing him hard to buy a new phone because his old old one is much older than our son Gab and I know it will soon break.  The LCD of his old Sony Ericsson show a black mark that gradually gets bigger as time goes by.  So last Monday, since there was less work in his office, Gab and I met him in Megamall as early as 5pm and we head on to buy his new Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY.  That will be his christmas gift for himself.

Below are the technical highlight of this awesome phone:

  • 4-inch multi-touch display (854 x 480 resolution)
  • 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon II processor
  • Adreno 205 GPU
  • Internal phone storage: 400MB + 8GB microSD (supports up to 32GB)
  • 512MB RAM
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • VGA front-facing cam (960 x 640)
  • Gamepad with D-Pad, four face buttons (X, O, Square, Triangle), L/R shoulder buttons
  • Accelerometer + Proximity Sensor
  • Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
  • Height: 4.69 x 2.44 x 0.63 inches (119 x 62 x 16 mm)
  • Weight: 6.17 ounces (175 g)
  • Rechargeable 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery (swappable)

Congratulations, for your new phone mahal.  Gab is waiting to play with your precious phone.
