Earlier today, Gab and I are having second thought of visiting my grand mother, his great grand mother in Tondo due not so friendly weather.

We only decided to go finally when it was about 4pm in the afternoon. To my surprise, we arrived at my grand mother and caught her packing her things up. They will be off to Bicol tomorrow night. (You know how oldies are…they want things done right away, so my grand mother is packing her things already more than 24 hours before the actual trip.)

My Uncle Roger will drive them off to Bicol. Too bad, Gab and I cannot go with them because I was not able to get a vacation slot from my office.

I just heard my Uncle Roger just subscibed to gps tracking for trucks. He’ll test in on their trip to Bicol, I wonder if that will work well with his van.

It will take them about 7 hours to reach our hometown in Bicol.

Missing the Greats

Gab and  I are missing Inay being around.  Its been more that two weeks since she went to Manila to be with one of my aunt that just got back from Jordan.

Giving a chance to take care of my Lola even for a few weeks is a great feeling for me. She was the one who raised me since I was 4 months old when my mother left me to her.   My son Gab is blessed to meet his great grandmother.  I miss the Greats.

I remember the first morning Gab woke up and Inay was already in Tondo with my Aunt.  He was looking for Inay all over the house. He checked him in our adjacent room, in the bathroom and even asked his nanny several times where Inay is.  Gab was used to waking up and Inay is just in front of the room waiting for him sitting on the sofa.

By next month,  I will try to convince Inay to visit us even for just a week and I will not tell Gab just yet.  I want him to be surprised as well.  Times up for reminiscing, I need to look for adult diaper at disposablemedicalexpress.com.  Since its pay day, I will buy one large pack of adult diaper for Inay.

This was taken while we were waiting for Dr Tanbuliong, at Chinese General Hospital he is Inay’s surgeon. The doctor requested series of Femur and Pelvis x-rays to see how intact the inplant in  her left thigh.  We were all happy when Dr. Tanbuliong said everything is good as it was expected.  Inay can walk straight even without her steel walker, all we need to work on is to support her morally to have the courage to let go of her walker.

I took half day vacation from the office so Tito Roger and me can accompany Inay to the doctor.  We picked up Tita Rose along the way to the hospital. My Lola really strong at 86.  Tito Roger felt uneasy taking this picture though the shot looked perfect.

Today is my dearest Lola’s 85th birthday!

We all feel thankful and blessed after my Lola survived her major left hip surgery last 25th May.  This was due to the bad fall she had while we were on vacation in Bicol.

My Lola is a great survivor.  If you had known her personally and you were able to hear her stories how she brought up  all her children alone after Lolo had passed away, you will see how magnificent she was. By the way, I am included to whom she brought up, I was already with her since I was four months old.  And now, she is as strong as she was before the operation, just that she needs to start to learn how to walk again.

This was taken the next morning after my Lola’s major operation.  She’s still feels heavy with her anesthesia but was able to smile and look straight to the camera.

We were all at Tita Rose’s house last Sunday for my Lola’s birthday celebration. I am guilty for not being able to take any picture.  My kept on giving me errands left and right.

My grandmother is a strong fighter at 86.

Our recent trip to Bicol last week thought us immeasurable learnings and great challenge.  Inay fell to the ground accidentally while we were running errands for her to the other town. She stepped to a big stone holding our screen door not to close and out balanced herself.  That happened on Friday afternoon after we had our feast in the morning for the “Santa Cruz de Mayo”.

On Saturday, we brought Lola to her local physician and she was given pain reliever her painful hip and legs.  We all thought everything is getting back to normal because of the pain reliever given to her.   We were on the road going back to Manila on Sunday afternoon. Lola is at Tita Rose’s place the whole Monday but kept complaining with the growing pain.

Finally she was convinced to visit a doctor here in Manila but we decided to have her confined while on recovery.  Lola was admitted to Chinese General Hospital on Tuesday.  Her doctor immediately performed operation for her left fractured hip on Wednesday.

As I write this article, I am beside my strong Lola who is fastly recovering from the surgical operation.  She is now back to her normal habit of giving left and right errands to us or who ever is near her except that she still cannot move her left leg that was wounded because of the operation.

My Uncle in Saudi would like to see pictures of my Lola during her stay in the hospital I will also send him direct mail postcards when I send him the photos.  Tomorrow, I will make sure I find time to do it.

Gab and I paid a visit to our dear grandmother on Sunday.  My son is lucky to meet his great grandmother, you see.  And you know what, its not really me whom they are looking after our visits, its Gab! My grandmother will not be contented if I will not bring Gab with me on any of my visit for her. She will go like, “ay bakit hindi mo man lang isinama yong bata” (Why didn’t you bring Gab with you?”)

Look at how she enjoy taking pictures with Gab….

Lola loves being sorrounded with kids. She’s young at heart at the age 85.  That little girl is my lovely niece Ashley,  she is only four years old but very boyish and playful.

How I wish I have an RV, I wonder why its only in the US where you can find a lot.  If I have an RV, i can just go anywhere I want, and take my family with me.  I don’t have to travel all the way from Cavite to Tondo and visit our grandmother only occassionally.  I will make sure to check rv insurance quote to avoid any hassle.

I never thought we will be out the whole day today.  As far as I can remember, I asked Rey on Saturday evening to wake me up early on Sunday so we can attend the 9:30 mass.  We were able to attend the mass even if we were late for about 15 minutes and we were happy to see my Uncle’s whole family with my Lola in the church.  After the mass, I told my Lola to go with us in the sedan because she is having a hard time getting in the van of my Uncle, a bit hard for her to lift herself inside the van.

We stayed for a few minutes with my lola while we were waiting for Rey to come back from our house, I forgot to bring my laptop with us and I really have to have it so I can do some work while Rey and Gab plays in the mall.  Its our first time to visit ATC with Gab.   I’m sure if I have a netbook instead of a laptop, I can just have it my bag and carry it all the time.  I wouldn’t want the best netbooks available in the shop, its too risky nowadays, an ordinary and cheap will do for me.

We left my Uncle’s place before lunch time so we can have our lunch on time in ATC.  I never realized, its really a quick drive from Mambog, Bacoor to Ayala Town Center in Alabang.  My kid did not have much sleep along the way, we had to wait for him to wake in the parking lot before we head on, you know, just to save us from the best tantrum Gab can throw if we force him to wake up.

At about 4pm, we hit the road going to Laguna, a nice 45-minute-drive from the mall to our house.  We took some of our things and left a “FOR RENT’ signage again.  I still feel sad because we never get to live in our home.  Its too far from our work place and Rey just can’t let me drive the unlighted streets alone in the wee hours of the morning on my way home from work everyday.

An hour after, we’re on our way home to Cavite.  Rey is happy to catch his fave ball team B-Meg on air.   Though its tiring being out the whole day, I’d say its one of best family’s day out.  Gab enjoyed his tour from the church to the mall and to our place in Laguna.  He loves to joy ride a lot.

Cigars, No Thanks!

I am lucky I did not liked cigars even I was exposed to it at a very young age.   I remember I have mentioned it already that I was raised by my dear grandmother.  It was just my grandmother and me in the province because all of her siblings were already in Manila to make a living.

My grandmother and I do gold panning, its just the small time, it only  makes us tired and to have almost enought food in the table but not rich.  We do it by the river and since I was just a small kid my grandmother wont let me stay in the water, I was just there watching her and when she needs a cigar, she will let me light one, back then prefers the “La Campana” brand.  Something that is just available in our province, I did not see any of that here in the city. Those were the days, when I was already attending school, my Aunts and Uncles persuaded my grandmother to stay in Manila, that means the two of us will have to travel from Bicol to Manila and stay for good.

here is my dearest lola, photo was taken in our house in Bicol, she is  84 years old and still very strong

During my third grade in elementary, my grandmother had a bad cough, I don’t know if it was what we call TB but she needs to go the doctor almost everyday for a shot of medicine,  I just can’t remember how long that was.  If there is one thing I really want to be proud about my grandmother and her smoking, its that she was able STOP it right there and then when her doctor told her to stop.
