……….of going out of the job and putting up a business

Not having a regular job means loosing many benefits a company can give to an employer. For me, this would mean not having a regular contribution to government benefits like SSs and Philhealth and also not having medical benefits. These are the things that you should be ready to sacrifice if you want to be on your own to put up your own business.

I chose to have my own small time business, and this is  my small time laundry shop. This is also the main reason why I am scouting for a no medical term life insurance. I am not very particular with the terms, all I want is to have a life insurance that I can take advantage eventually and having no medical term is already a bonus.

Having a memorial plan is going to be my next goal after the life insurance.

My daily routine is to wash clothes. As I start my day everyday, the very first thing I do after saying my morning prayers and kissing my son and husband in the morning is to turn on my heavy duty clothes washer. But today, after saying good morning to my washer she showed me that she is not feeling well and not very much fit to work. I noticed that dirts are coming out of the small holes of the stainless steels that looks like wall fountain. Instead on only clean water coming out of the water inlet, there are other foreign object that says “hello” to me.

I did not like this scenario so I immediately called the service center of my ever loyal washer to schedule general cleaning of the machine and an over all check up to see if there are any maintenance needed.  That would cost me a whopping Php 1400 just for the cleaning of the machine. How I wish there are no parts and needs repair or replacement.

Off to the office

Most of the time, my son behaves really well when we’re out. I guess he got this trait from his father who really behave well, to the extent that he will not even talk if its not something important. In less than three years old, Gab know what to do and will not display being “makulit”.

But he is different when we are at home. He has this attitude that what he wants cannot be broken. He knows how to insist what he wants even if it should not be.

Just this afternoon, before I leave the house. Gab was playing with my mobile phone and sitting on my snowboard jackets, yes I use this kind of jacket to battle the super cold AC in the office. He doesn’t really want me to go to the office no matter what I tell him. Of course I can’t leave the house without my mobile and jacket.

Good thing, her nanny was able to convince him to call Rey on her mobile and he let go of my phone.  Viola,! I got my phone and left the house before he asks again for my phone.

Yours truly, previouly works for Wendy’s Hamburger  and would love to share this new, coming from 10tv.com.

NEW YORK – When Wendy’s decided to remake its 42-year-old hamburger, the chain agonized over every detail. A pickle chemist was consulted. Customers were quizzed on their lettuce knowledge. And executives went on a cross-country burger-eating tour.

The result? Dave’s Hot `N Juicy, named after late Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas. The burger – with extra cheese, a thicker beef patty, a buttered bun, and hold the mustard, among other changes – will be served in restaurants starting Monday.

“Our food was already good,” said Denny Lynch, a Wendy’s spokesman. “We wanted it to be better. Isn’t that what long-term brands do? They reinvent themselves.”

For Wendy’s Co., based in Dublin, Ohio, reinvention is critical. That’s why executives at the 6,600-restaurant chain spent the past two and a half years going over burger minutiae during an undertaking they call Project Gold Hamburger. That included deciding whether to switch from white onions on its burgers to red (they did), to change the fat/lean ratio of the meat (they didn’t), or to go with plain or crinkled pickles (they picked crinkled.)

Wendy’s is trying to boost lackluster sales and fight growing competition from much bigger rival McDonald’s on one end and expanding fast-casual chains like Five Guys on the other. Part of the problem is that Americans in the economic downturn are being pickier about how they spend their dining-out dollars.

But the biggest issue is that Wendy’s, which hadn’t changed its burger since the chain began in 1969, let its food offerings get stale while competitors updated their menus.

Still, it can be risky to tweak an old favorite. The past is littered with examples of this, including New Coke and Clear Pepsi, which were pulled from store shelves because customers didn’t like them. Wendy’s itself stumbled a few years ago when it rolled out breakfast foods. The company now says its mistake was offering omelets and pancakes, which aren’t conducive to eating on the go.

“We have a lot of catching up to do in some areas,” said Gerard Lewis, Wendy’s head of new product development. “But after we launch this hamburger there will be folks who need to catch up to us.”

Party party!!!

In a few days our office will start partying here and there.  This is the way the office express gratitude to employees labor of love for the whole year of work and work and work.

Since we started, this is the third christmas party I will be joining.  The first we had was in Outback restaurant in Glorietta, the 2nd year was in Club Phi in Metrowalk Ortigas, and this is going to be in Dusit Thani, a 5 star hotel located in Makati just nearby the office.

Dressing up for the party is one major concern for each and everyone.  I do not have any party clothes because I am not into attending so much parties.  Its just this one that I cannot imagine not to attend since this one’s my office party.  My cousin Reine is busy looking at prom dresses 2012 online and I guess I’d give in to look one for myself as well just for this occasion.

I will surely not to forget to post some pictures taken from the party on this blog.

Office Buddies

Having fun while working is not impossible in my office.  These are my two office buddies, Cassie and Ching.  Cassie is our supervisor and Ching has been my seatmate for the longest time in the office.

Cassie insisted to put make up to Ching at the start of the shift.  A good makeover for Ching.   This was really unplanned so Cassie needs to find face products for Ching’s make up. I had the chance to lend them my Nu Skin face powder.  Fe Amor lend here eye pencils.  But what I really love on Ching’s make up is her eyelashes, Cassie used the best eyelash enhancers and it perfectly complimented on Ching’s chinky eyes.

Did you ever doubt if they are Filipinos at all.  Yes they are, and they are both Chinese too.

Thanks God It’s Friday!!!

Everyone is so happy to spend two days not being in the office. Everyone loves day off, off the computers and off the phones and emails.

Ironic, but it may be different to some.  Saturdays mean overtime work in the office.  Overtime work equals extra pay.  See how computer changed everyone’s life in the metro.  Can you still imagine an office without desktops? To some, having desktops is not complete and would still bring a personal laptop to do personal stuff while in the office. Rey and me is guilty of this, ’cause when its not me who’s gonna bring the laptop in the office, he will make sure its with him.

Now this one is a little exagerrated.  But tell me who can’t relate to this picture.  My two year old son gets too exited when he sees us using the tablet and the laptop.  No one can ever stop him from disturbing us without making him cry.

We Were There!!!

On 15th October 2011, Shell Oil organized the largest Fuel Saving Lesson to be recorded to Guiness Book of World Records.  Gab and I attended the event, here are some pictures just before and during the main event.

My son, took advantage of the free food, he likes ice cream.

Gab also enjoyed taking pictures with the clown.

Now here’s work.  Making sure he answers all the question correctly!!!

I would like to give credit to our colleagues in Malaysia for having the highest number of participants.  The Malaysian event was held in Kuala Lumpur and brought together a total of1,225 participants for the training session, making it the highest number globally across 10 cities from 9 countries.  My source also qouted “Organised to mark Global Shell FuelSave Day, the worldwide celebration of fuel saving saw 10 cities across Europe and Asia stage simultaneous training sessions for motorists to learn how to be more fuel efficient, learn how to save fuel and cut their driving costs. The lessons were staged in Allerød, Denmark; Bangkok, Thailand; Hamburg, Germany; Hong Kong, China; Istanbul, Turkey; London, UK; Manila and IloiIo City, Philippines; and Valkenburg, Netherlands. “

Do you think I am now rich had I’ve been doing sales job?  Ever since I ended school and starts to work, sales job had been hunting me. My work with Wendy’s before as a marketing officer is close with what a sales person does.  I have also worked for Straighway Pennswell (i am not sure if the company still exist) as a sales person for chemicals.  Experiencing sales in a call center is not new to me, I’ve work for DODO, it is phone company in Australia and you can just imagine how it is selling services over the phone. Just recently, I have been hooked with Nu Skin which offers best health and skin product from the USA.

Not only that, I sell everything in my office.  I have a sort-of-convenience store in my office.  I bring any kind of food I can offer to my colleagues in exchange of a small amout with interest.  Lucky for me  because our management is happy with it also, as long as I do not compromise my job and my colleagues job of course.  I have offered Avon products,  Natasha, Sophie,  Sundance, Goldilocks and Max’s goodies.  Name it.  Cigarettes,  I have it available in the office as well.

I almost forgot, I trained also as sales agent for an alarm system, its way way back I cannot remember the company anymore.   If Family First is familiar to you, I worked for them as well,  I was one of those who used to chase people at the mall and offer scratch tickets for free. I find my sales job really funny before, its only nipple tassels I did not come accross selling.

I know lots of people my age who became rich thru sales job and really respect their courage and perseverance to become successful.    I think that’s what I lack, I did not want to push myself to the limit., at least not that much then.  Its different now if you have a family.   Sales is the most frustrating yet satisfying job in all kinds of job.

Though sales job already stopped hunting me, I still want to pursue it as a business.  I do not want to end up as an employee for the rest of my life.  If that is what will make me rich, then I thank Thee.  If not, at least i will manage my own time and be able to set how much I want to earn.

Happy to Work

Remember how I was venting out regarding the request I got from one of our partners in UK over three weeks ago, here.  Well, I am happy now because I have gotten over it. I just pray that soon this partner of ours will have paperless office software to use so they will not send us another request like that eventually. I know it is not impossible in digital age.

Things are really fast changing I would say.  Last night, I was doing my part time job at home and I was using our old desktop.  I was wondering why the photos from my mobile phone cannot be uploaded on the desktop when I have tried all the USB ports all over the CPU and nothing works. Not that I noticed at once is the pop up message that says the USB port of the desktop is not compatible to my phone.  I never knew something like that is possible, then I realized how old my desktop was.  We bought it on the first year of my marriage.  I clearly remember, this is very the first thing/gadget Rey and I bought as a married couple.  So if can still remember how long I have been married, here, then you will realize how obsolete our desktop is.

I am inspired to work because there are a lots of thing we want to buy or we need to pay for.   List of our wants is no shorter than the list of our needs.  I guess thats how humans are, the challenge is how to get the things you need and want in a fair game.  That’s what inspires me to work.  I hope all of us gets an inspiration in what ever we do. Its one way we can be happy no matter what hardship we have to go through.
